Appalachia

As much as my A.D.D. brain has a bazillion things racing through it at any given time, I watched a show on TV a few nights ago, and I can't stop thinking about it.

ABC News: 'A Hidden America: Children of the Mountains'

I read all of the comments and was really surprised. I don't really see the negative aspect of the report.

(There's a link to the episode - you can watch it if you'd like.....it will really speak to your heart..)

  1. I don't know if you read Mark (Stars Like Grains of Sand in My Pocket), but he wrote about it, too. My Mom's side of the family comes from eastern Kentucky, so I know how desperately poor folks can be down there.

My great aunt, who passed away a few years ago, didn't have a name until she was something like 9 years old. They called her Girl. Finally she got tired of being called Girl, and picked her own name. Aunt Minnie was a beautiful lady.

    Hugs, Beth

  3. I think we need to take care of our own just like those people on the show instead of other countries all the time!
