Thinking.... in my own little la la land lately.......


2 1/2 weeks of low carbing has netted me a 4 lb. weight loss. I don't know if that's worth my time. Last time I low carb'd, I was considerably younger, though, so that may have something to do with it. (Pushing 40 is a bitch, isn't it?)

So.....I'm on the fence. Do I stay with low carb........or do I incorporate complex carbs and watch my calories? What to do.....

Exercise lately has been walking the dogs in 90 degree heat. Each of them has to have their own effing walk, mind you. bleh.

  1. 2 pounds a week is worth it, but most dieters I've spoken with can't keep up the low carb for a long period, so overall, it doesn't work for them. They go on & off and when they are off they crave carbs terribly from the previous limitations imposed, so they gain more. If you don't "mind" the low carb restrictions, I don't see 2 pounds a week as a deal breaker, I see it as about what should be lost in that time.

  2. Pushing 40? I'm dragging that bugger up a hill! LOL!

    I've neglected my exercise/better eating habits this summer while I have been so busy between the critters and tutoring the 3 boys. Now that I have my mornings back it is time to drag out the EA Active and the Balance Board and get my hiney back to work, so I feel your pain. If you find an easier way, I'd love to hear it ;p

  3. If you could see the size of my butt, you would NOT be asking me for dieting tips. For whatever reason, lately (as in the past couple of weeks) I have been having crazy cravings for all things sweet. I'm not usually a sweets-craver (just here and there) but I have not been able to get enough.

    I think I need rehab. Or detox. Or whatever.

  4. If it is working for you and you feel OK, I say ride the wave for a bit.

  5. Beats me. I lose weight so quick that if I skip a meal I drop a pound or two.

    Just eat healthy stuff and stop thinking about it.

  6. Gosh, how I wish I was pushing 40! I dread to think what I'm pushing now! 2 pounds a week is a respectable weight loss. Studies prove that a steady weight loss of one or two pounds a week is more likely to stay off. I could never low carb, me . . . I like me spuds and bread too much. I am losing about 2 pounds a week via hypnosis, and it's been relatively painless...well, you see what I eat!

  7. I think 2 pounds a week is great! Technically, you don't want to lose more than that. The quicker weight comes off, the more likely it will come back on.

    Honestly though, I don't know how anybody does the low-carb diet. I know it's super healthy, but it's one diet I think I would fail in no time.

  9. Well I personally don't believe in deprivation by calories or carbs - do completely believe in getting the healthy stuff in and careful moderation with everything else.

    More than anything I swear by serious weight workouts. There's nothing else I've tried in my 40 something years that works better!

    I do two twelve week super health and fitness focus sessions each year and pretty much totally slack the rest of the time - it's well worth it and really works!

    Coincidentally, tomorrow is September 1st, I'm back in training again as of tomorrow! :-)
